These are photos from our visit to Ethiopia in December 2004

Rick was fascinated by the architecture....small huts, individually unique
and fascinating in their humble and yet elegant traditions.... note the different types of cross firmly standing atop each
roof...
|
|
| Wherever we went we were met by one village more quaint than the other....Just great!! |

View from our hotel room
one early afternoon...and below, a stage is being prepared for New Year's events... A great place to be!!!

^ We landed in Addis, Ethiopia on
December 7, 2004 and drove north and south...and on the fifth or sixth day as we went from village to village, Rick noted:
"I just came to realize that Ethiopians are deeply spiritual and live mostly for the day they'll meet God...."

|
| Notice the woman with a load of sticks/wood "COURAGE/FAITH & ENDURANCE" come to mind |
^^ABOVE^^ We
followed the old lady for a short time to see where she was going with the huge load she carried on her frail shoulders...
Her pace never slowed… She then went down the river bank and eventually disappeared beyond the thick vegetation…
…I became engulfed by an immense amount of pride, as warm
tears of nostalgia slowly ran down my cheeks…
